His passion for painting begins to emerge. He has a permanent circle of colleagues, who are to become his closest friends (Leon Chwistek, Bronisław Malinowski and others)

In June he passes his school-leaving exams in Lwów

First trips abroad - to Vienna, Munich and Italy

Begins studies on the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków

Stays for three months in Paris, visiting museums and galleries

The turning point in Witkacy's life. His acquaintance with Irena Solska evolves into stormy romance lasting three years, leading to his first novel
1910
First novel based on autobiographical material - 622 upadki Bunga czyli Demoniczna kobieta (622 Falls of Bungo or a Demonic Woman)
1911
Visits Bronisław Malinowski in London.
1910-13
Produces outstanding psychological portraits, painted and photographic, of his mother, father, Bronisław Malinowski and others
1915
In February his fiancée Jadwiga Janczewska commits suicide. In these tragic circumstances Bronisław Malinowski asks his friend to join the expedition to New Guinea as photographer and artist. During their stay in Australia the war begins. Witkiewicz leaves for Russia, to St. Petersburg, where he joins the exclusive regiment of Tsar's guard. He is sent to the front-line and is wounded.
1918
Returns to Poland, writes his main work on the theory of art - Nowe formy w malarstwie (New Forms in Painting and Resulting Misunderstanding), published one year later. Writes his first dramas
1919-1924
Wtkacy's most prolific period. Works on oil paintings in the so-called Czysta Forma (Pure Form), writes most of his dramas. In 1923 he marries Jadwiga Unrug.
1924
On his initiative the Formistyczny Theatre is founded in Zakopane
1927-1932
Writes novels: Pożegnanie jesieni (Farewell to Autumn),

In 1929 he meets Czesława Oknińska-Korzeniowska.
1931-1938
Devotes himself to philosophy. Publishes several philosophical articles.
In 1937
he starts Niezależny Theatre in Zakopane
1939
After the outbreak of war he moves to eastern part of Poland when he commits suicide in the village Jeziory on September 18th
