In these tragic circumstances Bronisław Malinowski asks his friend to join the expedition to New Guinea
as photographer and artist. During their stay in Australia the war begins.
Witkiewicz leaves for Russia, to St. Petersburg, where he joins the exclusive regiment of Tsar's guard.
He is sent to the front-line and is wounded. |

(New Forms in Painting and Resulting Misunderstanding), published one year later. Writes his first dramas |

Wtkacy's most prolific period. Works on oil paintings in the so-called Czysta Forma (Pure Form),
writes most of his dramas. In 1923 he marries Jadwiga Unrug. |
